The Koroneiki extra virgin olive oil has a medium fruity, medium bitter and medium pungent taste. The olive oil smells like ripe fruit, banana and green grass. Due to the relatively mild taste, the Koroneiki olive oil is easy to combine with a large variety of dishes.
Koroneiki extra virgin olive oil comes from the Chania region, which is the most Western province of the Greek island of Crete. This olive oil is made from 100% Koroneiki olives. More than 60% of the total Greek olive harvest is Koroneiki. Koroneiki olives are famous for their refined, fruity and rich taste. The olives are relatively small and they grow well in warm and dry climates. The oldest tree that still produces olives grows in Chania. This tree, with the Greek name Elia Vouvon, has reached the respectable age or at least 2000 years. Some even estimate the tree to be 4000 years old! This tree is symbolic of the long tradition of olive cultivation on Crete.
Our Koroneiki EVOO has also won awards through the years; 2010 Gold award Los Angeles, 2016 Athens, 2016 France, 2016 Italy, 2016 Israel.
